In this episode, Mary and I speak with Alice Krauss, who recently retired as the manager of Brooks Adaptive Sports (sports for people with disabilities). She discusses what peaked her interests in starting the program while working as an occupational therapist at Brooks Rehab.
The reality of disability is marked with barriers, ranging from accessibility to societal interactions. Our conversation dives into her experience with the impacts of community, sports, and resources for health outcomes and quality of life in a marginalized community. Also, I share my interactions as a wheelchair user from the disabled athlete perspective.
