Fall 2022 Series:  Cooking with Creativity: The Role of the Artist in Society

Welcome to the Fall 2022 season of How To Ruin Dinner.

Inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson’s essay on Self-Reliance, I will ask artists from UNF, New York, Jacksonville, and Tampa about their creative process, and what influences gave them the courage to eschew conformity and walk the artist’s trace.

In a political and social environment that short-circuits the work of critical thinking through a politics of conformity generated by fear, xenophobia, and traditionalism, and conspiracy theories the artist’s bold and original vision may offer us the example of how to do the work of being truly authentic.

Look for my conversation with Dr. Moez Limayem, UNF’s new President Coming in late October!

Mary Treyz, Ph.D.
