Olympian and Wimbledon finalist MaliVai Washington is one of the greats of American tennis.  MaliVai competed at the very highest level, ending his career with a  winning record of 254-184.  What he has done beyond tennis is equally impressive.  While still traveling the world on the pro-tennis circuit, he started a foundation for children in Jacksonville.  Twenty-eight years later, The MaliVai Youth Foundation (MWYF) offers students after-school opportunities to enrich their lives through tennis, mentoring, internships, and financial literacy.

In this episode, Mal shares stories of growing up with parents who did not allow their six children to make excuses but encouraged them to work hard and stay focused on their tennis and schoolwork.  This “no excuses” mantra continues to motivate Mal as he seeks to work toward creating a community of educated and contributing citizens.
